What if I need to cancel my order?
Any order that needs to be cancelled must be cancelled 90 minutes prior to the scheduled delivery except for Saturday orders. Any order cancelled after that time must be paid for. Saturday orders must be confirmed/cancelled by 11am Friday.
What is the minimum volume of concrete that can be ordered?
The minimum amount of concrete that can be ordered is 1.0m^3. This is due the problematic issues of batching less than a meter. Concrete can be ordered by the half meter in volumes of more than one meter (1.0,1.5,2.0, 2.5m.....)
What is the delivery charge?
For most orders under 5 meters there is an underload charge that applies, this cost will be included in the total cost quoted when the order is placed.
How much concrete can each truck deliver?
All of our trucks can handle at least 8 meters, and some of the fleet can handle up to 9.25 meters.
How much concrete will I need?
For regular shapes such as floor slabs, walls and shed pads the simple method is Length x Width x Height (depth). When using imperial measurements to convert to cubic meters divide by 34.
Example: A slab of 12ft by 15ft by 4 inches
12x14x(4/12) = 56 ft^3
to convert to meters
56/34 = 1.67 meters
An order of 2.0 meters should complete the job.

What if I've run out of concrete before finishing?
If this happens, you can call the order desk, however you will be charged the underload fee for any balance of concrete ordered. Also, due to scheduling issue, there may be a delay in delivery. It's always faster and cheaper to ensure that you have enough with the original order.
Do you make forms and place the concrete?
No, Lafarge only supplies the concrete and delivers it, we do not place or finish concrete. If you require a contractor Lafarge can recommend a few but can not guarantee the quality of work performed.
Why would I want Air in my concrete?
Entrained Air is placed in concrete to improve resistance to freezing and thawing cycles, and exposure to deicing salts (road salts). Entrained air provides voids for freezing water to expand into.
What does the word 'slump' mean?
Slump is a method of measuring consistency and workability of the concrete. The higher the slump the easier it is to place the concrete. The lower the slump the stiffer the concrete is. The slump typically ranges from 0-6 inches (0-150mm). If you need help determining your slump feel free to contact Lafarge for further assistance.
Do you supply wheelbarrows?
NO, Lafarge does not supply wheelbarrows; they can be rented at most equipment rental places.
What if I ordered too much concrete?
Customers must pay for all concrete delivered, any left over concrete can be sent back, but must still be paid for.
Do you sell concrete curbs/blocks/walls/paving stones?
Lafarge does sell a variety of concrete blocks, normally 6x4x3 or 4x3x2 feet in dimension. Currently we do not sell parking lot curbs, walls or paving stones.
How long are your truck chutes?
Our trucks typically range from 12 to 14 feet long. You can not attach your own, any customer supplied chutes must be self supporting. If you require more reach we do have a few 'Belt or Conveyor Trucks'.
What is a belt/conveyor truck?
Lafarge has a limit supply of belt/conveyor trucks that have a conveyer attached to them. The conveyor enables the truck to deliver concrete 25 feet away from the truck.
Do you have any concrete pumps?
No, Lafarge does not have any concrete pumps trucks, we can recommend some if required. |
